BATTLE CREEK, MI - A relative of a missing Battle Creek man was charged with his murder Monday, authorities said.

The suspect, Stephen Getter, was arraigned Monday afternoon, Jan. 9, in Calhoun County District Court. Getter, 29, faces open murder and felony firearm charges.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office said previously that a "person of interest" had led authorities to a body on Friday, Jan. 6 and had been arrested.

Although the identity of the dead man has not been officially released by authorities, Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney David Gilbert said Monday that they are "very confident" it is Robert Barroso II.

Barroso, 28, of Battle Creek, was last seen on Dec. 27 near his home on Kingman Avenue having an argument with a relative.

Getter's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan 17.
